Managing Director, Gauntlet Risk Management

Roger established Gauntlet Risk Management Ltd in 1994, with Gauntlet Health & Safety Ltd being established shortly afterwards. Having “several” years experience working for two large insurance companies in underwriting and sales roles, Roger has a substantial knowledge of the markets, which have been the foundations of the business.

His main role is managing the continued growth of the business and he spends equal time consulting on health & safety issues and managing the insurance arrangements for our larger corporate clients.

Roger is a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and when he’s not studying for more qualifications, he’s likely to be found jumping out of planes, scuba diving, horse riding or hurtling down a mountain on his snowboard.

Paul Coates

Director – Appointed Representative Business

Paul first started working for Gauntlet in 1998, and after a short break at Gale & Phillipson in Harrogate, returned to us in 2002.

He started in administration before moving into the coach side of the business, looking after small renewals, before developing into a new business role with larger corporate clients.

Paul was made a Director in 2014.

When not in the office Paul can be found keeping fit and socialising.

Consultant - Appointed Representative Business

Nigel has been in and around the insurance industry for forty four years, during which time he has worked  as a Regional Manager or Area Director for 3 different companies.

His broking career began in 2005, and since then he has been on the Board of a PLC as MD of their Retail division, and held director posts with 2 other brokers.

Married with 2 children, 3 step children and 8 grandchildren, Nigel is a keen cricket fan, (and former player). He also enjoys rugby, football, walking, fine wines and all kinds of live music.

Richard Holmes

Richard joined Gauntlet Risk Management Ltd in 2011, having previously worked in commercial insurance for TL Risk Solutions.

He started life at Gauntlet as an Account Executive but quickly moved into a broking role, in which he has successfully developed strong relationships with various insurers.

Richard is a keen golfer and a Leeds United fan, who also enjoys spending time with his family and socialising with friends.

Stephen Holroyd

Steve joined Gauntlet at the end of 2012, having worked at Bluefin and Heath Lamberts, where he was involved in a wide range of commercial products.

Gauntlet offered Steve a role in an ever expanding commercial insurance business.

In his spare time, Steve can be found at the golf course. Steve says: "I would say golf has slowly taken over my free time, I just wish I was good at it. Being a fair weather player, and living in Bradford, I fear I will never be able to reduce my handicap to something more respectable than 28. I am a Bradford City supporter, and can finally hold my head up as I tell people."

Daniel Whitehead

Dan has been at Gauntlet since March 2015. He began his insurance career at eighteen, working within a motor fleet broker, before moving into an executive role within a commercial intermediary.

In addition to managing and developing his own client portfolio, Dan is responsible for overseeing the market placement for of a number of agents within our appointed representative network.

As an avid enthusiast for nearly all sports, Dan can often be found watching the football or Formula 1. He also enjoys socialising and spending time with his family.

Glyn Arundale

Business Development Manager

Glyn returned for his second spell at Gauntlet in January of 2016 after returning from Australia where he worked for Allianz as a Business Development Manager. He is heavily involved in project work whilst also assisting with broking for the Appointed Representative Network. Glyn is currently working part-time and is currently undertaking a Master's degree in History. His interests include Rugby League, Reading and socialising with friends and family.
Craig Harte

Commercial Broking & Compliance Manager

Craig joined Gauntlet as an account executive in 2005, following a previous spell at another Leeds broker. He specialises in both commercial and fleet insurance and looks after a group of clients who are based all over the UK. In addition to having Diploma CII status, Craig has obtained his Nebosh General Certificate in Health and Safety which enables him to provide advice for the Health and Safety side of the business as well.

In 2014, Craig became commercial broking and compliance manager, making him responsible for both compliance within the group and also the commercial broking team who provide services for direct customers and the network of appointed representatives.

Craig lives in North Leeds and spends the majority of his time with his family. In his spare time, Craig continues to both play and watch football on a regular basis and still has a keen interest in travelling all over the world.

Melissa Farrar

Administration Team Leader

Melissa joined the company as an Apprentice in March 2015 after completing her A-Levels. She began fulfilling junior Administration roles quickly progressing into administration duties for our Appointed Representative network.

Throughout her time at Gauntlet Melissa has developed a wide range of skills resulting in becoming the Administration Team Leader in March 2016.

Melissa is currently working to complete her CII exam's in May 2016.

In her spare time Melissa enjoys socialising with friends and family.

Jodie Clarke

Administrator

Joined Gauntlet in 2010 after leaving Yorkshire Bank. She started with Admin for the internal Account Executives but now focuses on Admin for the Appointed Representatives. Jodie is currently studying for her Cert CII exam.

In her spare time Jodie likes to spend time with her Family, especially her little boy, Harry. And also going for long walks with her crazy cocker spaniel, Oscar. 

Lucy O'Brien

Lucy joined Gauntlet in August 2013 having previously worked in Customer Service, Renewals and Admin at Gallagher Heath's since 2011.

Lucy started working on the Administration team dealing with Motor Fleet Insurance policies but later was introduced to large Commercial Clients whilst also focusing on the administrative duties for the Appointed Representatives. Whilst working for Gauntlet she has obtained her Cert CII and now will continue to develop her skills and knowledge in other aspects of the business.

In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, socialising with friends and catchi=
ng up on all the new series' on Netflix!
